That's what I love about Steam, though, I never lose the games I buy since they're permanently tied to my account. This step-by-step guide will show you how to uninstall Steam games so you can save space on your computer, get rid of a horrible game (I'll admit, they're not all awesome games), or get rid of it regardless of your reasons! May 24, 2012 How to reinstall Steam WITHOUT losing your games! It's actually pretty simple. Steam only needs Steam.exe to be able to update itself with the rest of the required files. So go into your Steam directory/folder and delete all the files (NOT the directories) EXCEPT Steam.exe. Again, NOT the directories/folders, just the files, and NOT Steam.exe.

Rockstar Support suggested that I reinstall. I'm afraid of losing my single player game progress since I'm at the final heist for the big score. I like the way I setup my characters too, and I never cheated.Lastly, has a saved game editor come out yet? If so, I would like to use it to reset my story to the mission before the setup before the Big Score heist. I wish it auto-saved after every mission so I could return to any part of the game. And what happens if the steam cloud goes downI actually do put my saves onto my storage drive separate from my games drive and separate again from my boot drive.
My SSD (which the saves were in My Docs) just randomly died on me so I have no way of getting my saves back. I assumed that GTAV being a full £40 release would include Steam Cloud saves like many other games (lower priced games). Steam cloud is just a nice short-term backup in which I can recover my saves to backup locally if anything on my end goes wrong. If Steam cloud goes down, I can just wait for it to come back, Steam Cloud wouldn't just format itself if it 'went down'. Since GTA saves your progress in DocumentsRockstar Games, deleting the local files within Steam should only get rid of the game itself. Regardless, you can just make a backup of the Rockstar Games folder in your Documents just in case. When it comes to installing games with Steam, you can just copy the game folder within 'steamapps' to another drive and it can still work, so I don't know if re-installing would fix your issue. I re-installed mine (which meant re-downloading it too) to try to fix crash issues and it didn't fix them.
Try verifying GTA V through Steam if you haven't already.
